Lingual Braces
Lingual braces are attached to the back of the teeth and are sometimes requested by patients because they are unnoticeable. The lingual bracket system allows us to treat patients who would prefer a more discreet option but are not suitable for Invisalign. They address the six upper and six lower teeth revealed when you smile. Treatment time typically lasts 12-16 weeks, but it may be a bit longer depending on your specific treatment plan. Both regular braces and lingual braces require an adjustment period. The difference is that lingual braces will affect the tongue, whereas regular braces affect the lips and cheeks. Also your speech may initially be affected with lingual braces. We use various comfort aids to help you through this adjustment period. This period usually lasts from 1 to 4 weeks. Are the final results as good with lingual braces as they are with regular braces? |
