The two most commonly used orthodontic treatments are Invisalign and metal braces.
INVISALIGN = INVISIBLE ALIGNERS
Invisalign is for that businessperson we spoke of earlier who doesn’t want their clients to see they’re getting orthodontic work done. Invisalign is an effective way to straighten your teeth without impacting on your lifestyle.
You can take your Invisalign out when you eat and drink, so you don’t have to worry about what you eat. However, you do need to clean your teeth after every time you eat. But at least you can eat sticky, crunchy foods without worrying about getting any of it stuck in your teeth.
Invisalign offers a clear and comfortable alternative to regular braces. For the best results with Invisalign, you should wear the aligners at all times (except when eating, drinking or brushing your teeth).
With Invisalign you’ll be given new aligners every two weeks. These new aligners will gradually straighten your smile. Little by little you’ll watch your teeth straighten into a healthy straight smile.
Also, appointments are quick—you’re in, you get your new aligners, you’re out. However, every six weeks or so you’ll need a longer appointment, this a routine check-up to see the progress the Invisalign has been making on your teeth.
METAL BRACES AREN’T ALL THAT BAD
While metal braces aren’t Invisalign, they are a proven and cost-effective way to straighten your teeth. At Excel Orthodontics in Adelaide we have found that metal braces are the most popular type because of their functionality and manageable cost. The younger patients like them because they can chose the colour of their braces.
Metal braces are placed directly on the tooth and do need continued looking after—cleaning these braces is a priority while you wear them.
